No eq or noise reduction
NOTE: Tommy Malone asked that "Wait" and "Don't Let Me Down" not be circulated (because he said they were too sloppy). For this collection, the songs are faded after a few seconds.
The subdudes performed for the first time on March 16, 1987. Recorded only three months later, and four months prior to the band's move en masse to Fort Collins, Colo., this is the earliest known extant recording of the band. The first show (in March) was also recorded, but to date band members have been unable to locate that cassette.
Since this show was recorded several years before their first LP/CD was released, the set list is heavy on cover songs as well as originals that never made it onto an official release, such as Can't Find Me, Everybody, It's Like This, Hold It, Mentioned by Her and possibly others.
Another interesting aspect of the show is that the four members of the subdudes almost equally share lead vocal duties, as opposed to today when Tommy Malone handles the majority of vocals, John Magnie sings a few songs, and Steve Amedee never sings lead - although all three share harmony vocal chores. (Johnny Ray Allen, who is no longer in the band, seems to have quit singing entirely after the band's move to Colorado.)
Six songs from this recording have been included on the band's podcasts, in March and October 2007 (It's Like This, One Time, Can't Find Me, Deepest Thoughts, Run Little One, Mentioned by Her - the last two were faded down as part of the background), but haven't been released commercially.
